VIHAB

This project was built upon an individual project I had handed in, in another course about virtual rehabilitation of a brain-damaged patient. The team saw potential in the hand-in and chose to continue the work I had done.

The project deals with the development of an interactive physical concept for rehabilitation of the shoulder after an injury or operation. The project deals with the problem where patients get demotivated and don’t complete their rehabilitation. Throughout the project, there were several meetings with physiotherapists and users in order to gain and clarify information and assumptions made about the problem and the whole rehabilitation

process.

To ensure the best user experience for both the user and the physiotherapist, research and analysis were made throughout the development of the concept.

This led to a number of requirements for the concept. To make sure the product fulfilled the requirements, a number of different problem-solving techniques have been applied. This led to the design of an interactive training unit which motivates the user. The project is built on the model Stepping Stones and follows the steps: Alignment, Research, Vision, Mission, Concept, and Product.

My area of responsibility

As in all other projects we work together in the early phases of the project. To get the team aligned. This means that some smaller tasks will be divided out such as user mapping, competitor mapping, stakeholder mapping etc. Other tasks like ideation with sketching are done together.

Later on, bigger tasks were devided into smaller teams. This could be making the prototype, the 3D model or user testing.

Graphic design

Render refinement in the Adobe suite was my area, with adding persons, adding shadows and correcting light.

Prototyping

I had a lot of the responsibility in relation to making moch-ups in wood, that were used for testing.

User testing

I was coordinating the user testing, with 3 team members recording, observing and helping with the equipment.
